returning from oblivion

yes yes yes.
once again, just in time for autumn (a most delectable season), the irresistible draw of spouting nonsense has brought me back to this beloved old blog.

‘hullo dear friend!’

what’s happened in the time that’s passed…COMMENCE SHORT BREAKDOWN
i visited brisbane and headed along to sunset sounds (a spectacular mix of rain and THE NATIONAL – magical moment)
i then got very ill with glandular fever
i lamented missing big day out (not due to the fever, more due to my lack of funds)
i tried tumblr for a day. i didn’t like it.
i then attended st jerome’s laneway festival – choosing to view a very hipster lineup in lieu of artists i knew i liked
my hair then got hacked off by an incompetent hairdresser
i also went to futuremusic for…no real reason. (KE$HA’S MA BETCH!)

all in all – a ho hum few months, in a relaxing sort of way. but there has been music, and plenty of it that i plan to talk about a little bit, in my proper voice. none of this ‘i’m going to try and sound knowledgeable but actually make no sense and sound even more like a pretentious wanker than i usually do’

i think it’ll be better.

so. in keeping with the theme – autumn story. FIREKITES are great at capturing a particular mood, and in this track they’ve nailed the seasonal change – it’s a little bit dark, there’s a little bit of yearning…plus they have a tremendous video to go with it.

a splendid time in a field

Oh my word yes. Without a doubt, the greatest festival ever to grace our landscape – Splendour in the Grass. The chaos and carnage surrounding ticket sales has now subsided. Well? i hear you ask anxiously. “Did you score a ticket?? Did you have to sell your left knee-cap to gain one of these prized pieces of gold?” I can safely say, ne’er has there been such stress with ticket purchasing. Suffice to say, we were some of the lucky ones. We managed to snag 3 tickets a mere 17 minutes after the initial floodgates opened – which is a spectacular feat considering some folks waited two, three, four hours to be processed. Moshtix? Really? Whose idea was this.
